Anyone who knows me, knows I love some adventure in an engagement session. So when Sam and Tyler asked if I was open to driving an hour and a half to do a Cedar Crest Lodge engagement in Pleasanton, KS, my answer was obviously "Yes!"
Sam and Tyler are absolutely lovely people, which was apparent from the moment I met them at a local wedding expo, and even more apparent when we grabbed a coffee at the cafe in Sunflower Bike Shop. Their wedding takes place this June in Topeka, and has a little bit different timeline than I'm usually used to, as they will be packing up at the end of it and driving back to this very b&b. Considering that it's quiet, beautiful, scenic, and has a pool, sauna, and hot tub on-site, I don't blame them one bit.

You would never know it was a cold and windy March day, as this place was absolutely bursting with spring colors. A variety of tulips lined one of the buildings, a small redbud between the garden and pool was in full bloom. A small trellis at the beginning of a path through the woods, which were a vibrant green after the previous day's rain. As if that wasn't gorgeous enough, the b&b is at the top of a hill with the most breathtaking vista. It was already on my list of spots to photograph the couple, and then Tyler told me that was where he had proposed to Sam. I asked if they wanted to recreate the scene, and they obliged.

As our session wound down, there was one more spot; a stunning forsythia bush near the entrance of the parking lot that would add some yellows to our palette. As Sam and Tyler got into position, we were suddenly greeted by a furry friend who didn't want to miss out on his photo debut, or some well-deserved head pats.

I'm counting down the days until I get to hang out again with Sam and Tyler; it's crazy to think their wedding is in just a few months! It will be here before we know it, and I can't wait.
